About Cultúrlann Uí Chanáin

There are hundreds of reasons for getting involved with the Irish language and arts, and we’re here to support yours!

Whether it’s brushing up on a skill learned in childhood, connecting with your heritage, or immersing yourself in a welcoming community of shared passions, there’ll be something for you at Cultúrlann Uí Chanáin.

We’re delighted to be at the forefront of a growing movement across this island that aims to give our indigenous tongue and culture the recognition they deserve. Through our Irish language courses and youth club, traditional Irish music classes, and a wide range of events for the northwest community hosted from our centre in Derry, we’re a registered charity that has been committed to this cause since 1983. From humble beginnings teaching Irish in attics, to over 14,000 people now taking part in our programmes annually from all backgrounds, ages, and abilities.

You'll also be made very welcome at our in-house bilingual café, Crann Beatha, which is open Monday to Friday, 8am to 3pm. Just a five minute walk away from the Guildhall, all are invited to pop in for a chat with one of the team here, with our reception to hand to answer any questions as well.
